Terms of Service
The rules for using Buildfolk. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them.
Last updated: 19 October 2026
1. About these terms
Buildfolk is run by Tenali Prem, Vidhya Nagar 1st Line, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh 522001, India ("we", "us"). These terms, the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and the Refunds, Cancellations and Delivery Policy together form the agreement between you and us.
If we change these terms in an important way, we will tell you on the site or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using Buildfolk after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
2. Who can use Buildfolk
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are 13–17, a parent or legal guardian must agree before your account opens. We email them a link where they confirm they are your parent or guardian, that they are 18 or over, and that they agree. If nobody agrees within 7 days, or they withdraw their consent, the account and its data are deleted.
- Selling, when Shopping opens, will only be for adults aged 18 and over who can enter into a legally binding contract.
- You must not use Buildfolk if the law, or an earlier suspension by us, does not allow it.
3. Your account
- Give true details about yourself, including your real date of birth, and keep them up to date.
- Have only one personal account. Do not share it or use someone else's.
- Keep your password secret. Tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless it happened because of our failure.
4. What Buildfolk offers
Buildfolk is free to use. We currently do not charge any subscription or membership fee. It includes:
- AI workspace: chat with AI models using your own OpenRouter API key.
- Arcade: free browser games played on one device. There are no prizes, bets or real-money rewards.
- Buildfolk Social: posts, Waves (short videos), messages and calls.
- Buildfolk Stage: a public feed at /stage of the projects published by adult members with public accounts, and a public portfolio page for each of them, which anyone can see, even without an account. Members under 18 can choose to show their projects there without their name or profile; only other members under 18 can comment on them. Screenshots and demo videos must be about the project. Only publish work you made or have the right to share, and do not post content that shows or identifies a child.
- Opportunities: listings of hackathons, internships, open-source work, competitions, scholarships, events and jobs run by other organisations. We check each listing before it appears, but the organiser is responsible for the opportunity, its rules and any selection. Buildfolk is not a party to it. Never pay to apply. Members may suggest listings; we decide what is listed.
- Teams: only add people who really worked on the project, and only with their agreement. Teams are either all adults or all members under 18.
- Communities: the main Buildfolk community, whose Announcements page only the host of Buildfolk can post to, and communities members create, with text pages and voice rooms. Communities are separated by age: adults (18 and over) and teens (13 to 17) each have their own, and the creator of a community is its host and can manage its pages, members and messages. The host of Buildfolk can moderate every community.
- Shopping and the Seller studio (coming soon, not open yet): a marketplace where independent sellers will list products and buyers pay on delivery.
- The Buildfolk Assistant, and Product trends for sellers (coming soon with Shopping).
We may change, pause or stop features, for example for safety or maintenance. If a change takes away something important to you, we will try to tell you in advance.
5. Community rules
These rules apply to everything you post, send, list or upload: posts, Waves, comments, messages, community messages, profiles, reviews and product listings. You must not share content that:
- belongs to someone else and you have no right to share it, or infringes a copyright, trademark, patent or other right;
- is sexual, obscene or pornographic, or sexualises or harms children in any way;
- invades someone's privacy, including sharing their private images, contact details or other personal information without permission;
- bullies, harasses, threatens, insults or intimidates anyone, including because of their religion, caste, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation or disability;
- encourages violence, self-harm, terrorism or illegal acts;
- is a scam, fraud, spam, a fake giveaway, or a request for money or payment outside Buildfolk;
- is knowingly false or misleading, including fake reviews and deepfakes presented as real;
- impersonates another person or organisation;
- promotes gambling, or sells or advertises illegal or prohibited goods;
- threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with other countries, or public order;
- contains viruses or malicious code;
- breaks any law that applies to you or to us.
Links, phone numbers, email addresses, QR codes, payment requests and other apps' contact details are blocked in posts, comments, bios, About sections and chats. The one exception is the Links list on your developer profile: up to 5 links starting with https://. Short links (such as bit.ly), chat-app links and payment links are not allowed there either. Teens' profile links are visible only to people they follow. Never use your profile links to sell, ask for payment or move people to other apps.
Anyone can report content and block other members. Reported content can be hidden automatically while our team reviews it. We may remove content, limit features, or suspend accounts that break these rules. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you create and upload. You give Buildfolk a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display, resize and transmit your content. We use this licence only to run Buildfolk and show your content to the people you share it with. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except:
- copies kept in backups for a limited time;
- content others have already reshared within Buildfolk;
- copies we must keep by law.
You confirm that you have the rights to what you share, and that it follows these terms.
7. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Buildfolk infringes your copyright, email nexushubcodebased@gmail.com with:
- the work you own;
- where the infringing content is on Buildfolk;
- your contact details;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised;
- a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We will remove or disable infringing content and may close the accounts of repeat infringers. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send us a counter-notice.
8. AI features
- AI answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check anything important. Do not rely on AI for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
- When you use your own OpenRouter API key, your use of OpenRouter and its models is also governed by OpenRouter's terms. Any charges on that key are between you and OpenRouter.
- Do not enter other people's personal data or sensitive information into AI chats.
- The Buildfolk Assistant has a daily limit and may fall back to simpler built-in answers.
9. Buying on Buildfolk
Shopping is not open yet. Sections 9 and 10 will apply when it opens, and we will tell you before then if they change.
- Buildfolk is a marketplace. Products are sold by independent sellers. When you place an order, the contract of sale is between you and the seller. The seller is responsible for the product, its description, quality, safety, warranty and delivery. Buildfolk provides the platform and helps resolve problems.
- Prices are set by sellers and include domestic delivery and the taxes that apply. Sellers ship within their own country.
- Payment is cash on delivery. Buildfolk does not take online payments.
- Cancellations, returns and refunds follow our Refunds, Cancellations and Delivery Policy.
- Reviews can only be written by buyers whose order was delivered. Do not write fake reviews or offer anything in exchange for reviews.
10. Selling on Buildfolk
- You must be 18 or over. New sellers wait for our approval before their products appear in Shopping.
- Give true business details, and describe products honestly. Use your own photos, or photos you have the right to use.
- Follow every law that applies to you as a seller, including:
- tax registration and invoicing (for example GST in India);
- consumer protection and product safety;
- the product information the law requires, such as country of origin, the manufacturer's or importer's details, and the maximum retail price where applicable.
- Honour cancellations, returns and refunds as described in our Refunds Policy.
- Do not list:
- weapons, ammunition or explosives;
- drugs, medicines or medical devices without the required licence;
- alcohol, tobacco or vaping products;
- counterfeit or stolen goods;
- recalled or unsafe products;
- adult products;
- live animals;
- hazardous materials;
- anything else that is illegal where you or the buyer are.
- Promoted posts may only show your own approved products.
- We may hide listings, remove approval or suspend sellers who break these terms. When we do, we tell you the reason.
11. Things you must not do
- Break into, overload, scan or reverse-engineer Buildfolk, or get around its security, age rules or limits.
- Collect other members' data, or use bots or scrapers.
- Create accounts to get around a block or suspension.
- Use Buildfolk to send spam or unwanted messages.
12. Suspension and closing accounts
You can delete your account at any time in Account → Your data. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or where the law requires it. When we can, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to review the decision by contacting the Grievance Officer.
13. Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep Buildfolk safe and working, but we provide it "as is" and cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be limited.
As far as the law allows:
- we are not responsible for products sold by sellers, content posted by members, or AI answers;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data;
- our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Buildfolk in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 US dollars (or the same amount in your local currency).
Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Guntur, India have jurisdiction over disputes about them. This does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, or your right to go to court there.
Please contact us first. Most problems can be solved quickly.
15. Grievances and contact
We remind every member of these terms and the Privacy Policy at least once a year, as India's IT Rules require. See also Contact and grievances and our Safety and community guidelines.
