Community guidelines
Buildfolk is for showing your work, learning and building together. Everywhere on the site:
- Be respectful. No bullying, harassment, threats or hate, including because of religion, caste, race, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
- Share your own work. Only post projects, photos and videos you made or have the right to share, and credit your teammates.
- Keep it safe for everyone. No sexual content, nudity, violence, self-harm content or illegal goods.
- No scams. No requests for money or payment, fake giveaways or fake opportunities. Links, phone numbers and payment details are blocked in posts and chats for this reason.
- Protect privacy. Never share someone else's personal details, photos or messages without their permission.
- Be honest. Use your real date of birth, and do not pretend to be someone else.
The full rules are in the Terms of Service.
Members under 18
- Buildfolk is for people aged 13 and over. Members aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian to agree before their account opens. If nobody agrees within 7 days, the account is deleted.
- Their social accounts are private (always under 16), adults cannot find them in search or start chats or calls with them, and teens have their own communities.
- Their projects appear on the public Buildfolk Stage only if they choose it, and only after our team checks that nothing shows who they are. Their name, photo and profile are never shown there, and only other teens can comment.
- No analytics cookies and no advertising for them. Their parent gets a daily summary of who they chat with, never the message text.
Tips for teens: never share your full name, school, address, phone number or photos of yourself in projects or videos. If anyone asks for photos, money or to talk on another app, stop, block them and tell a trusted adult.
Child safety
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Accounts that share, request or promote it are removed immediately, the content is preserved for investigators, and we report it to the authorities. Grooming, sextortion and any sexual contact with members under 18 are banned.
How moderation works
- Every post, comment, message, project and member can be reported. Serious reports are reviewed first.
- Content that receives several reports is hidden automatically until our team reviews it.
- We may remove content, limit features or suspend accounts that break the rules, and we tell you why when we can. You can ask the Grievance Officer to review a decision (see Contact and grievances).
- You can block anyone. Blocked people cannot see you, message you or find you in search.
